Follow the race: Further Pyrenees

24th August 2024 sees the start of FURTHER - Le Chemin ( de la Liberte ) - the latest edition of Further's Pyrénées event.

This year's race takes a different approach to that of previous years, being the first edition to cross the entire Pyrénées from west to east. Starting deep in the mountains on the Izpegi Pass, riders will need to navigate a total of 6 sectors, while also hitting checkpoints at Col du Somport and Col du Portalet and previous start/finish Refuge de Rhule along the way. Curfews and diversions will also be in place depending on the conditions, adding to the drama.

The race is the first in a series of three Further events this year, each taking on wildly different terrain.

You can follow the race here:

Last year’s race was decided by curfews on certain sectors, which are designed to restrict riders’ movements for safety concerns (on the toughest of passes), but also add a strategic element to the racing.

With the bigger distance, weather will likely make this year’s race significantly tougher than previous years, riders' kit choices will play a key part in how the event pans out.

Riders to follow:

Nick Dokman

Nick will be taking on Further for the third time, having placed 4th in last year's event. He'll be keen to push harder this year and will be challenging for the win. Nick is using a combination of our Race Range kit, along with a Hydration Vest.

Rob Roy Cameron

Rob Roy Cameron is no stranger to offroad riding, with a top 10 finish at this year's Atlas Mountain Race under his belt, he's hungry for a strong result. This isn't the only Further event he'll be taking on this year, as he'll also be riding Further East next month.
